GREAT LITTLE COTTAGE WITH EVERYTHING

September 2019

Tracy V. This unit was great. Clean, well appointed, loved the porch and outdoor furniture and fireplace/fire pit (portable) on the porch/deck to warm you at nights. Only negative: evergreens block views out of driveway ( might need to relocate one) and the TV volume needed to be linked into the remote so you can change remotely. Overall awesome place!

A GREAT NEW HOUSE - NO DOOR IN BATHROOM, THOUGH

October 2019

Alexey B. We enjoyed our stay at the Turnkey's property. It was absolutely new, well-equipped and well-maintained, as well as spotlessly clean. Check-in and check-out were flawless. The property was inspected once by a Turnkey's representative during our stay, with minimal advance notice. When we had a minor issue with water temperature, they fixed it within a day.
There was some instability in how their open wi-fi worked for a day or two, but I successfully used a backup wi-fi network with a password written on the router inside the property.
The only issue we really had was that there is no door in the bathroom, which makes visits there awkward if there is more than one person in the house.
Turnkey charges you a sizable non-refundable fee for any damages that might occur during your stay, which is basically a fee for nothing (or a very expensive home insurance, if you will). An alternative to that is a security deposit of 3 to 5 thousand dollars. I had problem extricating those money long after my check-out and needed to call them at least twice to remind about my deposit which was not released automatically. Given that they make the charge of the deposit at the moment of booking, you need to be prepared that they will hold your $3,000 for weeks or even months, depending on how early you book.

LOVELY MOUNTAIN COTTAGE!

July 2020

Sation K. This is a wonderful little cozy cottage! I enjoyed most of my stay. The living area and bedroom are perfect for 1-2 people. And the outdoor area and fire pit is a terrific addition for evenings in the mountains. I did have a few problems. Some controllable, some not. When I arrived, I noticed immediately that there was pet hair and the floor was dusty. Walking barefoot did not feel like an option. There were also some dishes that were not fully cleaned (a pot with remnants of scrambled eggs was put away in the cabinet & dirty coffee mugs). I reported these things in the Cleanliness rating shortly after checking in and got a response the next morning offering to send the cleaning crew back by. By then I had already used the provided cleaning Supplies. I had planned a meal and needed to use the dishes & who wants to put dusty feet in clean sheets? The next inconvenience came when the power went out after a storm on my last night there. I texted the 24/7 line, and the local number (that had reached out to offer to send cleaning) and received no response. I also called customer service and after a lengthy hold, was connected to a very helpful rep who took my info. This still meant waiting almost 2 hrs for an update...losing daylight quickly. So I decided to leave early cutting my trip short AND navigating the winding roads of the mountains at night which definitely wasn’t my plan! I did get a text a few hours after I reported the outage letting me know the estimated time for the power to be restored was 930pm. That was it. There was a flashlight... but staying in an unfamiliar cottage, in the mountains, in the dark hoping that 930 would be the time the power was restored wasn’t an adventure I signed up for on this trip. I recommend the cottage... but I wasn’t happy with the responsiveness when something major (albeit out of everyone’s control) came up. It has made me think twice about vacation rentals. I recommend the property w

NICE RENTAL, TERRIBLE RENTAL COMPANY (TURNKEY)

October 2020

Ann W. The house was the perfect size for my husband and me for our trip. We felt like we were out in the country and enjoyed coffee on the porch each morning. Overall, we really liked the place. But to be nit-picky, a few things were slightly annoying at the time of our stay.

1. The only door in the place was the closet door. There was no door separating the living area and the bedroom, and no door to the bathroom. To each their own, but I like my privacy while using the restroom, and I’ll leave it at that.
2. There was no shower door AND the shower head was on the same side of the shower as the opening. Water everywhere.
3. It would have been nice to have either a nicer couch in the living area with the TV, or a TV in the bedroom. The couch was very tiny and not very good for lounging. If not a better couch, I would have been happy with a TV in the bedroom.

TurnKey Rentals on the other hand was a nightmare to deal with due to COVID. Our trip was booked for the weekend after everything closed down. They were not the least bit transparent or helpful when it came to cancelling or rescheduling our trip.

I called TurnKey to ask if they were allowing refunds due to the pandemic and the only answer they had was no. I even asked if it was being considered, and they said no. No script about being concerned about anyone’s safety or that they were monitoring the situation or anything. Just no.

After that, we googled TurnKey and COVID cancellations to see if they had posted an update. We found a post buried on their site about offering credits due to COVID. This was not emailed to me, nor was it posted on the main page of their site.

We called again to ask if they had updated their cancellation policy, and I was told no, but was not even offered a credit for a future stay. I had to ask for it. When we rebooked our stay with the credit, we were charged an additional $50+ for the same number of days.
