Park City

If the weather’s making you want to stay indoors, head to Kimball Art Center at 1251 Kearns Boulevard to meander the nearly 9,000 square foot converted warehouse that hosts art exhibits, including photography, sculpture, collage, and more.

Lake Tahoe

It’s easy to choose affordable vacation rentals near Lake Tahoe located by a brewery – There are more than 12 in town! Start at South Lake Brewing Co. at 1920 Lake Tahoe Boulevard and try the Agave Bae or Fog Nozzle Hazy IPA. The brewery hosts Thursday trivia, so make sure you have your thinking cap ready (and eat a tasty meal from their rotating food vendors), so you’re prepared to play. 

South Lake Tahoe Ice Arena at 1176 Rufus Alan Boulevard is an awesome spot for families and couples! Rent figure or hockey skates and cruise around this NHL-sized arena to the music. Skate helpers are available for little ones who need some extra stability!

Looking for a night activity before heading back to your cheap vacation rental? Try stargazing! Grab a blanket, layer up, and make hot chocolate to bring in a thermos before heading to Nevada Beach at the southeast shore of Lake Tahoe. Dogs are allowed here so long as they are on a leash.

Whistler

Ziplining isn’t just a summer activity! Drive to 4282 Mountain Square to strap on a harness and fly through the air on the longest zipline in the U.S. and Canada at Ziptrek Ecotours! The Winter Après Tour starts in late November and involves four zip lines and treetop bridges. Wear warm layers, as it can get chilly zipping along!

When you’re ready to warm up with grub and a pint, go to Dubh Linn Gate at 4320 Sundial Crescent. This Irish pub, open seven days a week, serves up lunch and dinner like fish and chips alongside beer, wine, scotch, whiskey, and nitro coffee on tap. 

For dessert, a visit to Rocky Mountain Chocolate is a must. Their small-batch, handmade chocolates are the perfect treat to enjoy at the end of the day. Dig into boxed chocolate, ice cream bars, and even chocolate meltdowns that look like little mountains! The candies make awesome souvenirs to give away, but it’s understandable if they don’t make it to their intended destination.

Breckenridge

On Sundays, Breckenridge Distillery at 125 South Main Street offers tours of their facility – the highest distillery in the world. Taste the award-winning gin and vodka or sip some bourbon whiskey. The Breckenridge Espresso Vodka is a local favorite.

Families and history buffs are big fans of Country Boy Mine at 0542 French Gulch Road. Here, you can tour a 1000-foot-long gold mine and learn about the history of its unique place in local history. Borrow a metal detector and head on a treasure hunt or pan for gold in Eureka Creek! Plus, there are friendly, adorable burros on-site. These goofy donkeys love to visit.

Want to try fat biking? Drive to 520 S. Main Street to Ridden. Breckenridge, where you can take a tour to Broken Compass Brewery and Breckenridge Distillery as you casually roll through downtown. You can also hit the trails solo to get a little out of town by renting a fat bike through Gold Run Nordic Center. Better yet, rent a bike for a few days and use it to adventure to and from your affordable vacation rental cabin in Breckenridge –you’ll never worry about parking during prime dining hours!

Vail

Ready for some warm inside fun? Visit Deca + Bol at 141 East Meadow Drive to spend a few hours bowling and eating incredible food. The 10-lane alley is part of Deca, a world-class restaurant serving dishes with modern flavors like blackened Mahi Mahi and New York strip steak. 

Vail isn’t just famous for amazing mountains and snow. Many people travel here with one thing in mind: fly fishing! Head out on a river float (or wade into the water) with Colorado Angling Company based out of nearby Wolcott. The guides are area experts and can help beginners to experts cast into world-class trout waters. Many of the waterways are less than 2 hours from the Denver airport and an easy drive from affordable vacation rentals.

Don’t head back home without stopping at Sonnenalp at 20 Vail Road for an incredible spa experience. Start your day at the oxygen bar to counteract the effects of high altitude. This is a critical step for anyone suffering elevation sickness or looking to recover from time out in the snow.
